About Me

I am a fully qualified woodwind instrument repairer, I am a professional member of the repairer's trade association NAMIR, and I have been repairing woodwind instruments since 1990. I established my repair business in Peterborough in 1995 and have a fully equipped workshop with a comprehensive range of spares. I repair Clarinets, Flutes (Boehm and simple system), Saxophones, Oboes, Bassoons and Piccolos. My workshop hours are 8.45am - 5.00pm, Mon-Fri, and I run an appointment system.

Free assessment of repairs needed (and time and cost)

I usually need to examine the instrument (particularly if I have not worked on it previously) in order to give an accurate assessment of any repairs required; though if you provide me with enough information (such as the make, model and age of the musical instrument) I can sometimes give a rough assessment of time and cost over the phone.

Generally a musical instrument requires either a minor repair (where a specific thing has gone wrong with an instrument that is otherwise in good condition) or some sort of service to deal with deterioration caused by damage, or wear and tear, over a period of time. For all repairs except minor ones the instrument is completely stripped down so that I can find all the problems and deal with them; this enables me to give a three-month guarantee on the repair work I carry out.

For more details about repairs to Clarinets, Flutes (Boehm and simple system), Saxophones, Oboes, Bassoons and Piccolos (and for a guide to my charges) please see the Repair Work page; for information about various topics relating to woodwind instruments please visit the Information Sheets page.

Visiting my workshop

My workshop is located within 15 minutes walk of both Peterborough railway station and Peterborough (Queensgate) bus station (the No 2 bus stops in Aldermans Drive). My workshop is located at the end of the passage to the side of number 83 Aldermans Drive.

If you are driving follow signs for the District Hospital A&E department which is located in Aldermans Drive. For free parking approach Aldermans Drive from Thorpe Rd, once in Aldermans Drive take your first right into Percival street - you can park on the left-hand side of Percival Street, then walk back to Aldermans drive (if you cannot find a parking space in Percival street then drive to the end of Percival street turn left and left again, and park in the parallel street, again on your left-hand side).

Customers outside the Peterborough area

Customers who live some distance from Peterborough sometimes post their instruments to me. If you wish to do this you must inform me in advance and send the musical instrument by special delivery (or courier) with appropriate insurance. The musical instrument must arrive at an agreed time (e.g. Tuesday morning) and I will not collect items from a depot if the courier has failed to deliver for some reason. I do not post the instruments back - the customer must collect the instrument at an agreed time within my normal Mon-Fri 8.45am - 5pm working week.

Contacting me

Please contact me by telephone: 01733 896340. I am usually in the workshop Mon-Fri 8.45am - 5.00pm and there is an answer-machine outside of these hours. Visits are strictly by appointment only.
